- You should be at least a 'literate'. You will have to pass an application, partly judged on your literacy and ability to structure a sentence.
- Once you've filled out your Introduction and you've been accepted, you are free to use the full site.
- No flaming and no trolling, ever. Flaming is deliberately insulting someone. Trolling is when you post a message deliberately to start an argument -- and not a debate, more like a screaming fight. If there are enough complaints about a certain user, they will be put on probation.
- On the main boards, your posts should be PG-13. The mature boards, obviously, can go to NC-17 and beyond.
NOTE: Any gory or insanely violent role plays should be placed in the mature sections. For the password to any of the mature sections, PM an admin.
If a roleplay begins to get a little hot, violent, whatever--create a thread in the appropriate mature board and act out the scene there. Once the mature scene has passed, return to your original thread and PM an admin to let them know the mature thread can be moved to the archives (you'll be provided with the password required to look through the archives in case you need your thread later).
- For each thread you create, you are able to make your own rules--by citing the amount of roleplayers able to join, if it's open for joining or closed, etc. Make sure to state those rules, if it's necessary, in your first post. Name your thread according. For example;
- Follow the rules of the specific board you are in. The board maker may have rules of their own, as I've just mentioned, and are to act as if they are the rules of the forum while in that topic.
- Staff members have the right to edit any inappropriate content out of your posts. We'd prefer to not have to; we can't be everywhere. If you see something that makes you uncomfortable, please PM an admin.
- Be active. It saves a lot of time for the admins if you're sure that you'll stick around for a while when you sign up. There will be activity checks, although they won't be too frequent.
- Do not advertise other forums or threads. We have an Affiliates thread up--use that, instead, or become a sister site to Writing on Water by PM'ing an Admin.
- If you have any questions, please feel free to PM an Admin.
